Mom's Surprise 60th Birthday

I have been busy lately organizing and hiding favors and invitations. I made a favor box out of pastel colored paper from a template I found online. I stuffed the favor boxes with Lindt chocolate balls, Giradelli chocolate and Hersey kisses - that had a circle label on the bottom saying Marlene's 60Th Birthday. The stamp is a penguin with a Popsicle colored in with gold stickles.

Here are some pictures of the invitations that I made using a digital download from Dottie's World, silk flowers, buttons, stamp from Around the Corner Shop, a template I found online, paper pack from Bad Girls Kits and the invitation was a tag. I wish the photo came out better the colors were so bright, festive and fun!

Needless to say she really didn't know that the 30 favor boxes and the gift bags in my scrap room were for her party - thank goodness we have several events this month so I said it was for one or the other event and she believed me!!!

Here is a picture of the favor boxes...

Spring is Almost here

I haven't blogged in a while, been busy with party arrangements and favors for my niece's 3rd birthday, my mother's surpise 60th birthday - I have to post the pictures of the invites - they were so colorful!!. I have been determined to set aside time three nights a week to get things done! I have to!

I have finished a few books that I suggest for those looking for quick reads - The House of Night Series - another vampire book by P.C. Cast and Subterranian by James Rollins - a suspenseful end of the world race against time book! Excellent reads!

Haven't been paper crafting lately

I have been obsessed with cleaning out the old and de-cluttering everything! UGH can't stand the piles of stuff all over. I have been reading like 4 books again at one time. I am almost done with I, Elizabeth about of course, Queen Elizabeth it's like her diary or notes of her life with the drama, modern, I like it, the others are by Lee Child, I wanted to read all of his books this month, I have read all of them over the last 2 years but now, I want to finish all of them! I just ordered a few new books from Barnes and noble and can't wait to get those here - the other reason for cleaning out the old library - my attic is so packed with books now!

New Year and One Month Gone Already!

So I really need to set a time either twice a week or once a week to post and show off my work. I must post my work online to 'get it out there' . I made the cutest little favors boxes and I also had a stamp from Hero Arts for the thank you.

I recently ordered digital downloads from Charmed Cards & Crafts this site has some of the cutest digital downloads and the cards you can make are just unbelievably cute! I have to make invitations for my mother's surprise birthday party and found this blog-called Dottie's Wonderful World and was instantly hooked!!

I totally love reading 0ther people's blogs, I am such a lurker. Mostly the blogs that I have found lately are card making blogs - see some of them below and some I have read are scrapbooking related, but there are not that many of us out there! I have found that scrapbookers are not into posting their work online. Not surprising, right? When I do come across a scrapbooker's blog I quickly add it to my favorites.

So many people have moved away from posting their one or two page layouts, or joined a challenge website where it's a page a week. I have found tons of sites for ideas and projects and some inspiration, but it seems that the scrapbooking community needs to anty up and create a "FREE" blog and get their work out there!!!

Please send me some links for scrapbooking blogs!!! I need some more inspiration to get me motivated!!!!

Men who get manicures!

Poor Grandpa - this is what happens when you are playing with your grand-daughter, you have no way of saying NO! One hand was blue and the other was black. The last two pictures of our Lucas - she was going to polish his nails afterwords - and that's what he heard and took off!

Christmas is almost here!

How many days are left? YIPPIE I can't wait for this year. My niece understands some of it - at least the presents part! I have to do some more shopping for the parental unit - what should I get them? CASH?

I went scrapbooking at my local LSS which has closed so we have resorted to going to a local fire house - so not as much fun as going to the store! This economy blows big time! We still have fun and made our Christmas Cards - I found a few off of the web that I really liked. So I copied the idea and I will now be making the envelopes for them!

This week

So lately I have been interested in entering a few more challenges so I have searched the web and entered the Dream Girls challenge - but as usual - I was one day to late since the month of October has 31 days!! I entered my entry on the 31st instead of the 30th!!! UGG I was made because I really nailed this challenge. Here's my entry! The challenge was to use as much pink as possible and add lace (in the lower right corner).

Here is a slide show of a future scrapbooker - she just loves messing with my stuff. I now have a small drawer set aside for 'her' (my) scrapbooking stuff!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Today's the day to be the most creative you can be. We can turn ourselves into Rock Stars, princes, princesses and even something scary!!! I found this scary pumpkin on the web and thought it was really good. Is everyone going treat or treating tonight? Or Egging and TPing people's cars and houses? Which could be more fun???

On another note I entered the Dream Girls challenge this week for Think Pink and I tried to take the picture in different places yet again and was unable to get the entire scrapped page in the photo - but here is my entry below. As you can see I still have the darn light from the camera messing up the photo. You can't see what I wrote - it was You can never have enough Pink!

It's Almost time for Halloween!

I know Halloween is right around the corner because it was really really cold out again this morning! I found the most awesome blog today and I will be making the cupcakes on a stick this weekend! I will be also making the other pops for Halloween for treats to hand out. We only get about 8 halloween-ers and they are all our neighbors so they take freshly baked goods as gifts! I can't wait to try this Bakerella cupcakes. I purchased everything I need and have a trial run this weekend!! I am sure I will have a few people that will test out the products!!

October Already!

So this morning was a bit of a shock! I had to be at work early - really early - 745AM - yikes I haven't been up and out that early in a looonnng time! The weather was only 50 degrees I was shocked, I did not have a coat and was still wearing capris so I had to rush back in and change my clothes and unfortunately get a jacket!!! - That really upset me, I am still trying to hold on to summer I guess. Pretty soon Christmas and snow will be here.

So I joined another scrapbooking challenge at Dream Girls

I really like this site - it's only twice a month and it doesn't have such strict requirements to stay a member of the challenge! I definitely recommend it. Go on over and sign up. The prizes are great too, plus you get your work out there! Here is one that I have posted - the first really isn't all that great because the requirement was a black and white photo - and I have yet to learn / master how to photo my work so it's a bit small.

Hectic Life Lately!!!

It seems like forever since I blogged. I recently decided to clean up the pile of scrapbooking mess that is in my office. YIKES I really didn't know I have so much scrapbooking supplies - I need to stop buying and creating with what I have - but it is so hard when you see new products and they are sooo awesome you just get creative and want and buy and go crazy!!!

I also decided to join a few challenges; (1) Dreamgirls and (2) Bad Girls Kits

I am still in the twice a month challenges with Dream Girls but the rules with Bad Girls are so mean that I didn't make it past class two of the six week challenge - I was pissed because it was a great challenge - they don't tell you why you didn't make it - which is why I was even more mad. Isn't this supposed to be a fun and creative hobby? Why should all people be dissed like that!!! UGG so I will no longer participate in this blog or buy their monthly kit from them. That's what gets me - they are a service provider and in today's market need to make money and they loose customers this way! So I will begin the search for another company with great products and monthly kits and challenges.

I signed up again for The Button Farm's Extreme Scrapbooking Event for November - I can't wait you meet so many people and create some awesome projects - but it is definitely not for the beginner scrapper. I have been doing this for over 2 years and I was a bit slow. This was one of the books we created in just 2 hours - there were over 8 projects(?) and 5 make-n-takes.

I will start posting more of my work - I am just not good at taking the pictures and getting everything in the photo - to see all of the details.

Back from Vacation

Well vacation was a blast, just returning was not something I wanted to do! I recommend going on that cruise! Stevie Wonder was on the cruise and sang a few songs one nite. It was great to get away and have some fun and not be attached to a computer or a cell phone. When we arrived back I almost forgot how to drive - it was that great!

Now I am back at work and drowning in emails, phone calls, life - should be much simpler!

I will post pics from vacation soon!

Finally, I was able to book a vacation! I can't wait to go and take a nap in the afternoon, eat so much food I will get sick and then eat again! I will be in Puerto Rico, Grand Turk and St. Maarten. Can't WAIT!!! I will have some excellent pix when I get back!

I joined a new kit club!

So I haven't been blogging lately! I know I should do it at least once a week. I need to get my work photographed and put out there for everyone to enjoy! So here is what I have been up to lately. My subscription to Simply Obsessed has ended this month and I was looking around for another club that may have the same type of good quality products and fairly priced items. I found this club -- The Bad Girls club. The website is easy to navigate, the products are reasonably priced and I am extremely happy with the kits!

Here is a view of what I received so far...

The is the June Kit from Bad Girls Kits
This company has awesome kits and add-ons!
I really don't like paper clubs but this one I couldn't refuse.
It has more than just paper!
I was ending my subscription to Simply Obsessed and found this one with has
way more products and paper that any other club!
It is a bit more monthly but I only signed up for a 3 month subscription.

I need to be here today!

Going On's

Ok - I haven't been doing much of anything but running around like a chicken with no head. I have not done any scrapbooking since my recent trip to New Hampshire (April 26th) YIKES! I have so much to do I don't know where to start.

I just receieve the weekly email from Lasting Memories regarding a "Croptopia Cruise" that I was going to consider going on in October! I called a few people and put my deposit down!!! Although I have been to Bermuda before I need to get away again! This will be my first scrapbooking cruise so I will let you know how it works out.

I will post some of my work shortly! Have a great day!!!

Almost Time for Extreme Scrapbooking Event 2008!

Usually it is very expensive to go to a weekend getaway and they are really to me not far enough away from home, so when Lasting Memories had a weekend of classes hosted by The Button Farm, I went on her website and was instantly hooked. I enjoy her kits and they are so easy to create, the directions are great and the final product looks just amazing! I am so excited to go to this weekend getaway. It is in New Hampshire hosted by The Button Farm! This is what I call a great get away for scrapbooking and so worth the expense. You travel to a new location and meet so many other just like you! 100 people will be in a room for two days creating great new works of art! That to me is the definition of a weekend crop getaway!

This is the link to see the last ESE event of 2007 so you can see the pictures from the last event and read all the comments.

This is the link to the Button Farm Blog where you can see all the pictures of what will be creating over the two day event.

Enjoy!

Upcoming Kit from Simply Obsessed

Here is the new kit that should arrive any day now. I have so many plans for it already, I just need to set aside some time! These kits are really great and the possibilities are endless! The price is just right for them as well! I definitely recommend them and the monthly kit club!

Enjoy!

A bit late - March Kit

This is the March Kit from Simply Obsessed
I forgot to post this earlier I have been so busy lately with re-organization of the crop corner!!

Busy At Work!

Every time there is a visit a small person always has to sit at my desk and do her work!! She uses the mouse, hits the keyboard and go figure yells at the monitor. This is the future! And she will be 2 on April 2nd!!!
