Christmas Box Decoration

This weekend I had both my nieces sleeping over so I decided to do a Christmas Box theme - mostly because it gets them to sit still and gives my parents a break from the hectic fun and loud exciting house we have when they come over.  We love them so much it's insane - funny how your parents are ok with the grandkids making a mess and leaving it - compared to their first born child doing the same - and getting yelled at for it!!! My brother and I are still amazed at what these two get away with when with Nannie and Pop!

I went to ACMoore again and purchased 3 wood boxes.  I also picked up some miniature stuff, like the frosty snowman, reindeer, little trees, wreath and fake snow.  We painted the boxes white and I wanted to put music sheets on the boxes but I didn't find any in the store, I was going to do newspaper on the box with gesso but we decided to do just white paint.  We had to put at least 4 layers of paint on the wood but as they wanted a 'old' look.  I said antique and they said yea old look.

I had to do most of the gluing for them with a hot glue gun as the regular fabric tac, zip dry didn't work - at least the fake snow covered up those piles of glue!!!They loved painting these and I think a perfect day at home project and a rest for the parents - in total I think we did about 1 hour working on these

Canvas project

Here is a canvas I created this week.  I started out with blue paint and added water to as I didn't want the blue so dark on the entire background.  I paid $2 for the canvas at ACMoore - coupons work wonders!!!  I used Shimmerz Dazzelerz in blue with one of my templates.  I had chipboard that I purchased at the Scrapbook Expo a few months ago and painted it white and added glossy accents to so that it's puffy.  I wanted it white so that it stands out from all the blue.  I have a little metal clock tied in and Prima black butterfly to match the black crystals. I cut her picture out into the size of the circle of the chipboard which I also added stickles to for more of a pop.

Christmas cards

Here is the Christmas cards I'm making for the Facebook Group Girls, Giggles, Glitter and Glue.  I have to make a total of 10 cards.

I wanted to create a funky card that was cut in the middle. Something different, bright with Holiday Cheer.

For this project I went to AC Moore for the solid paper colors as I wanted Bazzil paper which is a bit harder but not as hard card stock.  I then cut out a part of the front of the card and Santa and the Tree are holding the card together. The Santa and Tree are actual tags I purchased in Walmart for gifts.  They were the perfect size for this project.  I was going to connect the top and bottom with the word Noel using my cricut but decided these were way more festive.

Christmas tags

I finally finished my Christmas Tags for my Facebook group friends Girls, Giggles, Glitter and Glue.
I used Tim Holtz Snowman Stamp on the whitiest card stock I can find.  I used my chalk ink in black.  The stamp came out fine and dark.  I then took maybe about 1 hour or more to cut them out.  I then purchased blue & white glitter paper from Joann Fabrics.  I stamped the Snowman on the white glitter paper - it didn't turn out that great with the glitter - some of the wording was a bit messy - but I was going to cover it up anyway with the paper piecing.   I choose blue, white and silver for the tags, I love using blue at Christmastime.  It's different and funky but still so pretty.

I then added the paper pieced Snowman to the white tag, then I decided to go over the stamp with a sharpie as the black seemed to look dull and faded.  This was ok as the stamp is a 'rough drawing' so the lines did not have to be perfect.

I then decided to add some textured paint to make it look like snow.  All I did was combine white paint with sand - the best part is that I started out with a sponge paint brush but used my finger and it looked so much better.  You do need to add a few layers to get a complete effect of snow.  I used my heat gun to dry it.

I added sparkled washi tape to the top of the tag with a flower and stamped happy holidays on the front.  I used silver glitter ribbon and colored a few of the items on the Snowman with Prisma markers.

Final product.
